Synopsis
World of Tomorrow Episode Two: The Burden of Other People's Thoughts (2017) is a short animated film you can watch online on iFILM. Director Don Hertzfeldt returns to Emily Prime — the first episode earned an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Short Film — this time visited by an incomplete backup clone of her future self, third generation.
The clone pulls Emily inside her own fragmented consciousness. There, borrowed memories — accumulated by accident rather than lived — are among the few remaining pleasures in a future where the original self has long since disappeared. Twenty-three minutes. Deliberately rough line animation. Voice performances by Julia Pott and Winona Mae do the heavy lifting.
