Synopsis
Godzilla vs. Megaguirus (2000) is a Japanese kaiju film from Toho you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Masaaki Tezuka. In this alternate-timeline Japan, Godzilla was never defeated — so the country quietly shifted away from nuclear energy to plasma power, hoping to starve the monster out. It did not work. Godzilla adapted.
The new plan is a weapon called the Dimension Tide, a device that fires microscopic black holes. Test run goes reasonably well, aside from the dimensional rift it leaves behind — one that turns out to be a passage for Meganula, giant prehistoric dragonflies that swarm in enormous numbers. Their energy, absorbed from prey, feeds a single queen: Megaguirus, sixty meters of prehistoric aggression whose target is not humanity but Godzilla itself. A military unit built specifically to track and destroy Godzilla watches as the two close in on each other — and waits to see what's left when it's over.
It is a tighter-than-average entry in the Millennium Godzilla series, with a cleaner plot than most and a monster duel that earns its runtime. Stream Godzilla vs. Megaguirus (2000) online on iFILM.
