Synopsis
The Shadow Play (2019) is a Chinese neo-noir thriller from director Lou Ye that you can watch online on iFILM. A construction official falls from a rooftop during a demolition protest. It looks like an accident. Young cop Yang Jiadong starts digging and almost immediately gets suspended — then hunted.
The investigation loops back fifteen years to a buried love triangle and a corruption network that runs high enough to make witnesses disappear. Yang flees to Hong Kong, where the dead man's daughter holds pieces he cannot find anywhere else. Jing Boran, Ma Sichun, Zhang Songwen, and Edison Chen lead the cast.
