Synopsis
Watch Hunting Season (Av Mevsimi, 2010) online on iFILM — a Turkish crime thriller directed by Yavuz Turgul, running 144 minutes and in no rush about it. Three homicide detectives who have no business working together are assigned a missing-woman case that keeps expanding the longer they pull at it.
Veteran cop Ferman and his hotheaded partner İdris get saddled with rookie Hasan, an anthropology graduate who ended up in a uniform by accident. The suspect list covers most of Istanbul society: a family that may have killed for honor, a drug dealer with a reason, and an aging billionaire named Battal who took the victim as his second wife. Each lead opens a new layer. The case is less about finding the killer and more about understanding how all these worlds connect.
Şener Şen and Cem Yılmaz are an odd match on paper — a veteran dramatic actor alongside a comedian — and that friction is exactly what gives the film its texture. Turgul is not interested in car chases. He wants to show how family, money, tradition, and the law pull in four different directions at once. Slow, intelligent, and worth the runtime.
