Still Life

Still Life (三峡好人, 2006) — watch online on iFILM — is a drama by Chinese director Jia Zhangke, set in Fengjie, a county town on the Yangtze River being demolished block by block to make way for the Three Gorges reservoir.

Two strangers arrive in this vanishing place on parallel searches. A coal miner, Han Sanming, has come to find the wife he hasn't seen in sixteen years. A nurse, Shen Hong, is looking for a husband who disappeared two years ago. Both move through a landscape of rubble, evacuees and addresses that no longer exist.
