Synopsis
20th Century Boys: Beginning of the End (2008) is a Japanese sci-fi mystery you can watch online on iFILM. It opens a film trilogy adapted from Naoki Urasawa's acclaimed manga, directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi.
Summer, 1969. A schoolboy named Kenji and his friends build a secret hideout and scribble a "Book of Prophecies," a kid's fantasy about a band of heroes saving the planet from a masked villain. Cut to 1997: Kenji has long since traded his rock-star dreams for a job behind a convenience-store counter. Then the world around him starts mirroring that childhood notebook — strange deaths, a family that vanishes overnight, and a fast-growing cult led by a man known only as Friend.
Urasawa spent nearly a decade on the original comic, and the film carries its slow-creeping dread intact. Toshiaki Karasawa plays the grown Kenji, forced to remember how his made-up story ended — because someone is acting it out line by line. Built for fans of patient, dread-soaked mystery.
