Synopsis
The Reptile (1966) is a classic Hammer horror you can watch online on iFILM. Harry and Valerie Spalding take over a cottage in a remote Cornish village, where the locals meet them with locked doors and cold stares.
Harry's brother dies within days — his face blackened, his throat marked by a venomous bite. The villagers bolt themselves in after dark and say nothing, all except young Anna, whose tyrannical father rules her every move. As the Spaldings trace a string of identical deaths, the trail leads back to her and to a curse that turns its victim into something cold-blooded and lethal. John Gilling lets the dread build slowly.
Shot back-to-back with The Plague of the Zombies on the same sets, it ranks among Hammer's sturdier mid-'60s gothics, and Jacqueline Pearce makes Anna more tragic than monstrous. A mood piece for fans of old-school horror that earns its scares without cheap jolts. Stream The Reptile (1966) online on iFILM.
