Synopsis

Ben Whishaw plays an exhausted obstetrics registrar who cracks jokes at the bedside, snaps at his bosses and runs on no sleep. The camera trails him down the corridors, and every so often he turns to face it and says the things a doctor is not supposed to think out loud. Deliveries go sideways, paperwork drains what's left of him, and his personal life falls apart precisely because there is no time left for it. Ambika Mod plays junior doctor Shruti, whom the same system grinds down just as hard.
Adam Kay adapted it from the diaries he kept as a real doctor, which is where the gallows humor comes from — and the moments where the laugh sticks in your throat.
