Synopsis
The Room (2019) is a Belgian-French supernatural thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Christian Volckman. A couple, Kate and Matt, move into a derelict country house and uncover a walled-off room that grants any wish spoken aloud. Cash, paintings, whatever they ask for simply appears.
Kate, played by Olga Kurylenko, eventually asks for the one thing no amount of money could buy her — a child. That wish is where the film changes register entirely, from fairy tale to something more unsettling. Volckman keeps the room's logic deliberately opaque, which turns out to be the right call; explaining the rules would have deflated everything.
At its core the story is a riff on the monkey's-paw idea stretched to feature length: the force behind the room gives freely, and the cost shows up later, without warning. Stream The Room (2019) on iFILM.
