Synopsis
Blackadder: The Cavalier Years (1988) is a short spin-off from the beloved British sitcom you can watch online on iFILM. Fifteen minutes of pure farce, made for the Comic Relief telethon.
The sketch drops scheming Edmund Blackadder (Rowan Atkinson) and his servant Baldrick (Tony Robinson) into the English Civil War. Their job is to keep King Charles I — played with dim grandeur by Stephen Fry — out of the clutches of Oliver Cromwell and his Roundheads. Naturally, they make a complete hash of it, which is the whole joke.
It works as a rare extra chapter of the saga: the same acidic wit as the main series, squeezed down to a single gag. For Atkinson fans it's an essential trifle; for newcomers it's a quick taste of why the show is adored. Stream Blackadder: The Cavalier Years (1988) online on iFILM.
