Synopsis
My Happy Family (2017) is a Georgian drama you can watch online on iFILM. Co-directed by Nana Ekvtimishvili and Simon Groß, the film follows Manana, a 52-year-old woman in Tbilisi who does something her family cannot process: she rents an apartment and moves out to live alone.
No affair, no confrontation, no crisis speech. Three generations have shared the same flat for as long as anyone can remember, and Manana doesn't explain herself — she just leaves. Her husband, children, and parents spend the rest of the film trying to talk her back. Ia Shugliashvili carries the role with a stillness that makes you forget you're watching a performance; Merab Ninidze plays the husband who got left behind.
