The Inhabitant

The Inhabitant (El habitante, 2018) is a Mexican-Chilean horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Director Guillermo Amoedo traps three women inside a single house for one long night and never lets them back out clean.

Three sisters break into a corrupt senator's mansion to steal the cash he skimmed from bribes. No guards, no staff, no resistance — it all goes too smoothly. They tie up the senator and his wife, crack the safe, and then a noise rises from the basement. Down there a paralyzed girl, the senator's daughter, is strapped to a bed and marked by torture. She begs to be freed. The sisters pity her and cut the restraints, only to grasp far too late why her own parents kept her bound. Something has moved into that house, and a priest may be the only chance the living have left.

This is tight single-location horror: one villa, a handful of people, and the slow dread that a good deed has sprung a trap. Amoedo, a frequent Eli Roth collaborator, leans on possession and body horror rather than cheap jolts, with María Evoli driving it as the boldest sister.
