Synopsis
Maléfique (2003) is Eric Valette's French horror film, and you can watch online on iFILM. One cramped prison cell, four men, and a brick that works loose from the wall. Behind it sits the handwritten journal of an inmate who occupied this same cell a century earlier.
The cellmates are a ragged bunch. Carrère is doing time for fraud, the bookish Lassalle stands accused of killing his wife, the gentle Marcus dreams of becoming a woman, and a slow-witted giant answers to the nickname Daisy. The diary holds incantations that promise a way out, so they try one. But Danvers' magic doesn't open a door to freedom — it opens onto something far hungrier. Gérald Laroche, Clovis Cornillac and Philippe Laudenbach lead the cast.
Valette leans on claustrophobia rather than money: nearly the whole film stays locked inside that single cell, and the walls press harder than any creature could. It's a tight, mean little chiller for fans of early-2000s European horror who like a bleak ending. Stream Maléfique (2003) online on iFILM.
