Synopsis
Home for Christmas (Hjem til jul, 2019) is a Norwegian romantic comedy series from Netflix you can watch online on iFILM. Johanne is in her early thirties, single, and headed home for the holidays — where every relative will ask the same question. She gives herself a deadline: show up with a boyfriend by Christmas Eve or spend another year fielding the stares.
Ida Elise Broch plays Johanne with exactly the right mix of determination and self-sabotage. Director Per-Olav Sørensen keeps the comedy dry and the awkward moments honest — this is not the glossy Christmas rom-com the premise sounds like. Two seasons, both available, and the show knows when to stop.
