Synopsis

Jayne Mansfield's Car (2013) is an ensemble drama written and directed by Billy Bob Thornton, available to watch online on iFILM. Alabama, 1969: a woman who walked out on her Southern husband decades ago and built a new life in England has died abroad. Her body is brought home, and the two families she left on opposite sides of the Atlantic sit down together for the first time.

Jim Caldwell (Robert Duvall) is the Southerner she left behind. Sidney Stone (John Hurt) is the Englishman she chose. Their adult children — Kevin Bacon, Ray Stevenson, Frances O'Connor, Shawnee Smith — didn't ask for this collision. Thornton, who also plays one of Jim's sons, is drawn to grief, war damage and the quiet way families pass hurt down through generations.
