Synopsis
The Monkey's Paw (2013) is an American horror thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Director Brett Simmons drags W. W. Jacobs' famous short story into a modern Southern town, where a single charm grants three wishes and charges a brutal price for each one.
Jake Tilton ends up with a dried monkey's paw — a dark talisman that delivers exactly three wishes to whoever holds it. The first comes true too literally; the second drags his spiteful coworker Tony Cobb back from the dead. But Cobb doesn't return the man he was. He leans on Jake to spend the final wish reuniting him with his son, and when Jake resists, the pressure turns into a string of killings, forcing him to outthink a murderous "friend" before everyone he loves is gone.
Stephen Lang plays Cobb cold and frightening, and he's the reason the film works, turning the old "be careful what you wish for" parable into a bloody manhunt. It's a small, unpretentious picture, but it stays honest to its source and lands a couple of genuinely nasty scenes. C.J. Thomason and Corbin Bleu round out the cast.
