Iris

Iris (2014) is a documentary by Albert Maysles, available to watch online on iFILM. Its subject is Iris Apfel, the 93-year-old New York style icon known for oversized round glasses and fearless excess.

The camera trails her across Manhattan — flea markets, boutiques, the storerooms stuffed with her outfits and mountains of costume jewelry. "It's a lot more important to be happy than well dressed," says a woman who'd know.

This is one of the last films by Maysles, a giant of American documentary (Grey Gardens, Gimme Shelter), who died at 88 not long after filming.
