Synopsis
You've heard these voices a thousand times and never seen the faces behind them. I Know That Voice (2014) is a documentary about voice-over acting you can watch online on iFILM. Director Lawrence Shapiro gathered dozens of the artists who breathe life into cartoon characters and got them talking candidly about a craft that usually hides behind someone else's drawn face.
The lineup is a who's who of animation: Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart Simpson), Hank Azaria, Charlie Adler, Pamela Adlon, Clancy Brown, Corey Burton, Dee Bradley Baker and many more. They demonstrate how one throat produces ten different characters, swap stories about auditions that bombed, and explain the toll of screaming a role until their cords give out — plus why nobody ever credits them in their heads.
Produced by John DiMaggio, the man behind Bender on Futurama, it plays less like a dry interview reel and more like a warm look inside the trade: funny, sharp, and full of real respect for the work. Perfect for cartoon fans and anyone who's ever muttered "where do I know that voice from?" Stream I Know That Voice (2014) online on iFILM.
