The Silenced

The Silenced (2015) is a Korean supernatural horror-thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Lee Hae-young. The setting: Gyeongseong — the Japanese colonial name for Seoul — in 1938. Ju-ran (Park Bo-young), ill with tuberculosis, enrolls in a colonial boarding school under a Japanese name, the only way to gain admission to an institution run by the occupation administration.

She soon learns that a girl with the same name vanished from the school before her — no explanation, no trace. Then her own body begins to change in ways she can't account for. Director Lee Hae-young builds unease through atmosphere rather than jump scares; the dread comes from realizing the trap was already closed before Ju-ran arrived.
