Synopsis
The Brain (1988) — watch online on iFILM. Directed by Ed Hunt, this Canadian sci-fi horror film follows Dr. Blake, the host of a TV program called "Independent Thinkers" — a self-help show that is, in practice, a mind-control operation run through an alien organism simply called The Brain. Viewers tune in and drift away from themselves. Most never notice.
The one exception is a troublemaking high school student played by Tom Bresnahan. He starts seeing things he can't explain and quickly becomes the only obstacle between The Brain and full-scale domination. The film uses its ridiculous premise with a straight face, which is the right call — there's something genuinely unsettling about a monster that works through passive consumption.
