Synopsis
A Cop Movie (Una película de policías, 2021) is a Mexican documentary-drama from Alonso Ruizpalacios that you can watch online on iFILM. It rides the seam between fact and fiction, tracing corruption inside the Mexico City police through two officers, Teresa and Montoya.
At first it reads like a straight drama: two patrol cops, the daily grind, the bribes, the fear of the streets. Then the film folds back and shows its stitching. The officers are played by actors Mónica del Carmen and Raúl Briones, who actually went through police academy training and rode along with real cops to prepare. Where the performer ends and the person in uniform begins is something the director deliberately scrambles, so you feel for yourself what it means to pin on a badge inside a system soaked in money and mistrust.
