About
Synopsis
Charlie's Country (2013) — an Australian drama by director Rolf de Heer — is available to watch online on iFILM. David Gulpilil plays the lead and took home the Best Actor prize in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes 2014.
Charlie is an older Aboriginal man in a remote Northern Territory community. The government intervention has rewritten the rules of daily life: policing of weapons, alcohol restrictions, endless bureaucratic oversight. His neighbours adapt; Charlie can't. He heads into the bush alone, armed with a hand-carved spear, trying to live the way his people once did — off the land, without oversight. It doesn't go the way he planned. Quieter than a survival film, harder than it looks. Watch Charlie's Country (2013) on iFILM.
