About

Synopsis

Looking for Hortense (Cherchez Hortense, 2012) is a French comedy-drama by Pascal Bonitzer — watch online on iFILM. Jean-Pierre Bacri plays Damien, a professor of Chinese civilisation with a quietly arranged life in Paris. His wife Iva, a stage director, drops one request on him: ask your father — a senior figure in the French Council of State — to stop an acquaintance from being deported.

The problem is that Damien and his father barely speak. One reluctant call pulls him into family territory he'd spent years avoiding, and somewhere in that discomfort he starts seeing his own life more honestly. Kristin Scott Thomas and Isabelle Carré play two women who want very different things from him; their contrast gives the film its quiet, wry tone. Stream Looking for Hortense online on iFILM.
