Synopsis
Chelsea Peretti: One of the Greats (2014) is a stand-up special you can watch online on iFILM. It's an hour-plus solo set filmed live at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco.
Peretti, known to many from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, picks apart dating, gender roles and the small absurdities of daily life, delivering it in that deadpan register where you can't quite tell if she means it. Between bits, the show cuts to deliberately weird inserts: a fake crowd, body doubles, sly jokes from the camera crew. The whole thing keeps poking fun at the stand-up format even as it shoots one.
Director Lance Bangs turns it into more than a straight concert tape — it's a small game played with the genre itself. The comedy is dry, prickly and not built to win over everybody, which is exactly why it lands for fans of the awkward, faintly surreal style. A solid place to start if you don't know her work yet.
