Synopsis
Hornblower: The Even Chance (1998) — watch online on iFILM — is the first entry in ITV's acclaimed eight-film cycle about Royal Navy officer Horatio Hornblower. Ioan Gruffudd stars; Andrew Grieve directs. The scripts draw on C.S. Forester's long-running novel series, which began in 1937.
Portsmouth, 1793. Seventeen-year-old midshipman Hornblower reports aboard his first ship just as Britain goes to war with revolutionary France. He's seasick. He quickly makes an enemy of a brutal senior rating named Simpson, who sets about humiliating him at every turn. The feud builds toward a duel — and his first real test under fire at sea.
