Synopsis
My Wife's Husband (La Cuisine au beurre, 1963) is a French comedy by Gilles Grangier you can watch online on iFILM. Fernand comes home after thirteen years stuck in Germany, only to find the whole town had buried him — and his wife has moved on.
With Fernand declared a war casualty, his sudden return is treated like a small miracle. There is just one snag: lovely Christine now has two perfectly legal husbands. The new one, Norman chef André, runs Fernand's old restaurant and swears by cooking in butter. The old one swears by olive oil and nothing else. Christine throws both men out for a while, but the rivals discover they actually get along, and they settle into their unexpected bachelor freedom with gusto.
The real draw is the pairing of Fernandel and Bourvil, two pillars of French screen comedy sharing a kitchen for the first time. It is light, unfussy fare for anyone who enjoys old-school Gallic farce built on regional cooking feuds. Stream My Wife's Husband (1963) online on iFILM.
