Bernie

Bernie (1996) is a French black comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Albert Dupontel wrote, directed and stars in the film as a thirty-year-old orphanage graduate who sets out across France to find his biological parents. Bernie has no idea how ordinary life works. He has a folding shovel and no social brakes whatsoever.

Along the way he meets a young woman named Marion and becomes convinced his family was the victim of some larger conspiracy. Dupontel plays Bernie as both pitiable and unstoppable — a character who leaves wreckage behind him without ever meaning harm.
