Synopsis
A Private Affair (Une Affaire privée, 2002) is a French crime thriller from director Guillaume Nicloux — watch it online on iFILM. Private detective François Maneri (Thierry Lermitte) takes on a missing-persons case that has been cold for six months: a young student named Rachel has simply disappeared.
Interviews with her family and classmates go nowhere. Then someone breaks two of François's fingers and leaves a clear message: walk away. When Rachel's body surfaces, he goes back in — and finds that the young woman had a private life no one around her knew about. Marion Cotillard takes a smaller role; Nicloux keeps the investigation tight and the atmosphere appropriately bleak.
