About
Synopsis
Twice Two (1933) is a Laurel and Hardy short comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Twenty minutes of pure nonsense from the most famous double act of early sound cinema.
The gag is the casting. Stan and Ollie each play two parts — themselves and their own twin sisters. The marriages cross over: Stan wed Ollie's sister, Ollie wed Stan's. Now all four sit down to a wedding-anniversary dinner, and the quiet celebration slides into bickering, smashed crockery and the slow-burn glares the duo built their careers on. Director James Parrott pulled it off at a time when putting an actor on screen twice was a real trick of the camera. Brisk, daft and still funny, it's a tidy sample of vintage slapstick.
