D@bbe: The Possession

D@bbe: The Possession (Dabbe: Cin Çarpması, 2013) is a Turkish horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Days before her wedding, Kübra starts behaving in ways nobody can explain, and then her fiancé turns up dead under circumstances that make no sense at all.

Suspicion lands on Kübra herself. She reaches out to an old friend, a psychiatrist who studies cases of djinn possession, and at first he files it under mental illness. The deeper he looks, the further back the trail runs, to something that took root years earlier in a small town. He rigs the house with cameras to record whatever is happening, and the watching slowly drags him in too.

Directed by Hasan Karacadağ, this entry in Turkey's Dabbe series builds dread out of Islamic demonology rather than the usual Western exorcism playbook. Across a full 135 minutes it leans on ritual, scripture and a thick, airless sense of something ancient closing in.
