Synopsis
Sharpe's Eagle (1993) is a British period TV film you can watch online on iFILM — the opening chapter of ITV's Sharpe series, adapted from Bernard Cornwell's Napoleonic novels. Spain, 1809: newly promoted Captain Richard Sharpe (Sean Bean) is attached to the South Essex, a regiment commanded by the hopelessly incompetent Sir Henry Simmerson (Michael Cochrane).
A botched demolition mission humiliates the regiment and nearly ends Sharpe's career before it starts. His only chance to salvage it: capture a French Imperial Eagle, the battlefield standard of Napoleon's army. Brian Cox plays the wry intelligence officer Major Hogan, and a young Daniel Craig turns up in a small role. Filmed largely in Ukraine and Portugal, the production used real landscape to deliver a period authenticity that most TV of the era couldn't match. Stream Sharpe's Eagle (1993) online on iFILM.
