Migrant

Migrant (2009) — watch online on iFILM. Director Evgeniy Epshtein's drama follows a twenty-year-old Russian-German who moves to Berlin with his parents and figures out what to do with his life in a city that doesn't care either way.

He works the shifts available to an outsider: German high school, a Russian fish shop, backstage at the German State Opera. He finds his crowd — other immigrants his age — falls into love and trouble in roughly equal measure, paints, makes plans. Then one night tips into an accidental murder, and the expanse of Berlin collapses to the width of a prison cell in Germany. Compact at 52 minutes, the film earns its ending.
