Synopsis
Accidental Texan (2024) is a comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Rookie actor Erwin (Rudy Pankow) flubs his very first role and ends up broke and stranded somewhere in rural Texas with no way home.
He gets rescued by Merle, a weathered oil driller one bad day away from losing everything (Thomas Haden Church). Together with the sharp-tongued Faye (Carrie-Anne Moss), they cook up a long shot: sink one last well and outfox both the bank and a crooked oil company before the foreclosure clock runs out. Bruce Dern shows up too, doing exactly the kind of ornery old-timer he plays better than anyone.
Mark Lambert Bristol's directing debut runs on warmth and an easy small-town rhythm — the sort of low-budget picture that cares more about its underdogs than its twists. Light, unpretentious and charming, it's a good pick for a low-key evening. Stream Accidental Texan online on iFILM.
