Synopsis
Empty Nets (تورهای خالی, 2024) is an Iranian drama you can watch online on iFILM. Amir and Narges are in love in a small town on the Caspian coast. But love alone settles nothing in today's Iran: to win her family's blessing and cover the dowry, Amir needs money, and he needs it fast.
He takes a job at a local fishery and lands almost at once in a place where honest wages run short and easy cash smells of trouble. Bit by bit he is pulled into poaching black-market caviar — a shadow trade with its own ranks, debts and men you cannot refuse. The net tightens slowly. The deeper he goes, the further he drifts from the very girl he was doing it all for.
Behrooz Karamizade's debut feature was shot along the bleak Caspian shore, and the landscape is a character in its own right: grey water, rusting boats, a low and pressing sky. Hamidreza Abbasi plays Amir with no melodrama — an ordinary young man being ground down by circumstance.
