Synopsis
White Dew (1984) is a warm Soviet tragicomedy you can watch online on iFILM. An old Belarusian village is being torn down for new apartment blocks, and the man who spent his whole life there has to let it go.
Fyodor Khodas survived hard labor and three wars, lost his wife years ago, and raised three sons on his own. The eldest is too shrewd for his own good, the middle one left for the Kuril Islands and barely writes, and the youngest — a hopeless joker — is the one his father worries about most. As the village faces resettlement, each son drags his own troubles into the open: marriages, work, pride. Vsevolod Sanayev plays the father with quiet weight, while Nikolai Karachentsov carries the comedy as the youngest, Vaska.
Directed by Igor Dobrolyubov at Belarusfilm, the film hides a sad note under its light comic surface — about a way of village life slipping away and old people being outpaced by their own time. The laughter and the ache sit side by side, honestly earned. One for anyone who loves gentle Soviet cinema where the funny and the bitter travel together. Stream White Dew (1984) online on iFILM.
