Synopsis
Minerva's Shield (Shchit Minervy, 2003) is a Russian drama you can watch online on iFILM. Vlad is a successful writer of popular novels, and one day he learns something he refuses to accept: his wife is planning to leave him for another man.
His answer is a strange one. He stages an accident that leaves him bound to a wheelchair, gambling that she could never walk out on a helpless husband. Where an ordinary person's imagination would give out, Vlad's real life is only beginning — and this tangled charade slowly turns into the plot of his next book. Director Sergey Tkachev keeps it intimate, a chamber piece about manipulation, self-deception and the price of a love held in place by force. The cast is led by Dmitry Shevchenko, Zhanna Epple, Yuri Stepanov and Ekaterina Guseva.
