The camera was meant to record disappearing walls. Instead, Faruk himself — well past ninety, stubborn and charming and in no mood to leave — keeps stepping into frame, until he is no longer the backdrop but the lead. What began as a record of a teardown becomes a film about Istanbul's gentrification and the knotty bond between a daughter and the father she is pointing her lens at.
