Synopsis
A world with no grown-ups left. Anna (2021) is an Italian series you can watch online on iFILM, set after a fever called the Red Plague has wiped out everyone past puberty. Sicily belongs to feral children now, and thirteen-year-old Anna survives on two things: her little brother Astor and a notebook of instructions her dying mother left behind.
When Astor is taken, Anna walks out after him across a scorched, overgrown island. The road throws child gangs, smoke, makeshift cults and the quiet dread of bodies that are growing up — and so running out of time. Niccolò Ammaniti adapted his own novel and directed it himself, which gives the show a literary, almost fairy-tale pulse: less action spectacle, more haunting study of one kid carrying another kid through the end of the world.
Giulia Dragotto carries the whole thing on a stubborn, far-too-old stare, and the six-episode French-Italian production trades glossy horror for sunburnt Sicilian ruin.
