Synopsis
The Doll's House (Kukolny domik, 2021) is a Russian crime mystery you can watch online on iFILM — the fourteenth case for investigator Sasha Korzukhina, drawn from a novel by Anna Malysheva.
Sasha has just decided to give up detective work for good: a daughter to raise, a calm new romance with Dr. Vitaly Milyukhin, an ordinary life. Then a case lands on her desk. An anaesthesiologist — Milyukhin's former colleague — is dead, killed with a rare psychotropic drug, an antique doll tucked into her handbag. Two more doctors die the same way. When one of those dolls turns up in Milyukhin's own home, Sasha has to find out whether the man she loves is the next target or the killer.
The hook is a deeply uncomfortable question — can you run an investigation when the prime suspect shares your bed? Yelena Velikanova plays Sasha as a cornered, believable woman rather than a screen hero, with Maksim Shchyogolev and Valery Storozhik alongside. Directed by Artyom Nasybulin.
