Synopsis
1899 (2022) is a mystery thriller from the creators of Dark, and you can watch it online on iFILM. The steamship Kerberos carries hundreds of European emigrants toward New York, until it picks up a distress signal from a ship that vanished months earlier.
The captain turns the vessel around, and passengers from a dozen countries find themselves trapped in a web of coincidence. Neurologist Maura Franklin is hunting for her missing brother and for memories she can no longer reach. Around her: a Polish stoker, a Chinese stowaway, a French newlywed with a buried secret. Everyone speaks their own language, everyone is hiding something, and the ocean keeps bending what feels real.
Created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese for Netflix, the eight-episode series was shot almost entirely on a vast LED stage instead of built sets, with a cast drawn from eight nations. Anton Lesser and Emily Beecham hold the riddle taut to the final frame. Stream 1899 (2022) online on iFILM.
