"The Palace" (Der Palast, 2022) is a German drama series you can watch online on iFILM. Director Uli Edel plants the story inside the Friedrichstadt-Palast variety theatre in East Berlin — the DDR's most spectacular entertainment venue — in the weeks before the republic's 40th anniversary celebrations in 1988.

Dancer Kris has poured everything into the jubilee show when a stranger enters her life and changes the axis of it. What comes to light is that she has a twin sister, Marlene, raised in West Germany under entirely different circumstances, shaped by a different world with a different set of loyalties. Two sisters, two Germanys, one question neither of them expected to be asking.
