The Gone (2023) is an Irish-New Zealand crime drama you can watch online on iFILM. Dublin detective Theo Richter is days from retirement when he's sent to New Zealand's North Island: an Irish couple has vanished from a remote rural town with a history of unexplained deaths. The bodies pulled from a local waterfall have bird-bone crosses lodged in their throats. This has happened before.

Richter works the case alongside local officer Diana Huia — played by Acushla-Tara Kupe — who grew up in these communities, left years ago, and is back now as the outsider nobody asked for. Richard Flood leads as Richter. Directed by Hannah Quinn and Peter Burger, the series uses the New Zealand bush not as scenery but as something that closes in: the further from town, the thicker the silence around the old murders.
