Synopsis
The Collapse (L'Effondrement, 2019) is a French anthology drama you can watch online on iFILM. Across eight episodes it pictures eight separate days after the modern world quietly stops working — empty shops, dry fuel pumps, money that nobody wants anymore.
Each story is shot in a single unbroken take, no cuts at all. A gas station where strangers brawl over the last few litres. A care home the staff simply walk away from. A private airfield where the wealthy try to buy their way out of the breakdown. Because the camera never looks away, the panic feels uncomfortably close. The series comes from the French collective Les Parasites — Bastien Ughetto, Jérémy Bernard and Guillaume Desjardins.
What sets it apart is how calm and plausible it stays. No zombies, no explosions, just ordinary people watching law, manners and common sense fall apart over a couple of days. It's a sharp pick for anyone who likes restrained, near-future European sci-fi and doesn't mind an ending that lingers. Stream The Collapse (2019) online on iFILM.
