Synopsis
The Day (De Dag, 2018) is a Belgian crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Dries Vos and Gilles Coulier. Armed robbers seize a small bank branch and take at least six hostages. Police surround the building immediately — but what is actually happening inside stays murky for hours.
The series splits into two tracks. Odd episodes follow Inspector Thoge and the negotiation team working to end the standoff without casualties. Even episodes replay the exact same hours from inside the bank, where the robbers and their hostages fight their own battle. Same minutes, completely different reality.
It is a clean structural idea that Belgian television executes with real precision — watching the negotiators piece together a picture the audience already knows to be half-wrong keeps the tension steady without cheap twists.
