Synopsis
Rita (2017), Season 4 — eight episodes of the Danish drama-comedy to watch online on iFILM. Rita has hit bottom: crashing on someone else's couch, working a burger bar, going nowhere. Then a friend sends in a job application on her behalf without asking.
It lands her at the primary school she attended as a child, where the rules are different, the staff is unfamiliar, and the whole building faces closure. The season runs on two timelines: present-day Rita finding her footing at the new school, and 1985 flashbacks slowly uncovering what happened between her and childhood friend Lea — a falling-out that never fully healed. When the headmaster cannot bring himself to deliver bad news and old patterns start repeating, Rita does what she always does. A loyal friend decides not to let her get away with it this time.

Rita has settled down in Molly's apartment and works in a burger bar, much to Molly's chagrin. When Molly, on behalf of Rita, sends a job application, Rita ends up with a job offer from her former primary school, which she reluctantly accepts. Hjørdis, out of concern for Rita, applies for a job at the same school, so she can be there for her.

Rita, who hates cooking, struggles to fill in as a home economics teacher. Hjørdis tries to help Allan overcome his fears about an upcoming field trip.
S4·E3Sudden Thaw
A bomb threat scares the whole school — except Rita. Hjørdis worries that her and Uffe's strange hobbies will hurt their son socially when he's older.
S4·E4True Friends
Lea invites Rita to join her family for dinner, echoing a day in 1985 when teenage Rita had dinner with Lea's parents and was called to Lea's rescue.

When one of Rita's first-graders doesn't want to take a turn bringing home 'Sharebear,' the class teddy bear, she visits his home to find out why.

To try to save the school from closure, the staff organizes a fundraiser, including a play by Hjørdis' class with Allan in the lead role.
S4·E7Family
Bjørne can't bear to break the bad news to his staff and becomes self-destructive. The event in 1985 that led to Lea falling out with Rita is revealed.

When history starts to repeat itself, Rita retreats in self-defeat, until a loyal friend gives her the support she needs to figure out her future.
