Synopsis
Human Universe (2014) is a BBC documentary series with Professor Brian Cox that you can watch online on iFILM. Across five episodes, Cox works through the questions that sit at the intersection of physics, biology and philosophy: are we alone, what made humans the one species that asks about its own existence, and what does the universe's long future hold for us.
He shoots on location — Ethiopia for the oldest human fossil sites, a Kazakh cosmodrome for the reality of reaching space, Colombia's cloud forests for biodiversity. Cox is a working physicist rather than a TV presenter who happens to like science, and the difference shows: the series goes a layer deeper than most popular science television without losing the thread. If you've watched Cosmos and wanted something with more rigour and fewer visual effects, this is the series. Stream Human Universe online on iFILM.
