Synopsis
White Explosion (1969) is a Soviet war film directed by Stanislav Govorukhin — watch it online on iFILM. Summer 1942, the Caucasus mountain range. Alpine snipers from the German Edelweiss division hold the high ground and pick off anyone trying to cross the pass below. Lieutenant Arsenov, played by Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, comes up with a drastic plan: climb to the snowcap above and bring a massive avalanche down on the enemy position.
He assembles six experienced climbers, including characters played by Sergei Nikonenko and Lyudmila Gurchenko. Every approach is under fire; every hour costs lives.
