Decline and Fall (2017) is a BBC comedy series you can watch online on iFILM. It adapts Evelyn Waugh's 1928 debut novel — a cold, precise satire of English class — with Jack Whitehall as Paul Pennyfeather, a quiet Oxford theology student who gets expelled for indecent exposure after being stripped and chased across the quad by the drunken Bollinger Club. Penniless and with no references, Paul takes the only job he can get: a teaching post at a dilapidated Welsh boarding school. There he meets a fraudulent headmaster, colleagues with dubious pasts, and Eva Longoria as Margot Beste-Chetwynde, a glamorous widow whose considerable wealth comes from sources that don't bear examination. Stephen Graham, David Suchet, and Douglas Hodge round out the cast. Director Guillem Morales keeps Waugh's acidic edge intact — the aristocracy, the middle classes, and the law all look equally absurd and equally vicious.
