Synopsis

Quarterback Russ Holliday torched his college football career eight years ago with one very public mistake. His solution: disguise himself as Chad Powers — a quirky walk-on with no history and apparently real arm talent — and try out for the struggling South Georgia Catfish. Keeping the disguise intact while winning over skeptical coaches and teammates turns out to be the harder game.
Powell plays it with exactly the right level of committed absurdity: Chad is simultaneously pathetic and genuinely likable, which is a trickier balance than it sounds. The show grew out of a 2018 ESPN sketch Powell filmed with Peyton Manning — an idea so durable it eventually became a full series.
