Synopsis

Twelve-year-old Danny happens to witness his stepfather, Rick Barnes, murder a drifter and dispose of the body. John Travolta plays Frank, the only shield his son has left, while Vince Vaughn, better known for comedy, is genuinely unnerving as the charming industrialist with a buried past. Steve Buscemi turns up in a small role.
Becker builds a sturdy old-school thriller with no effects, just suspense and the creeping sense that the grinning stepdad could snap at any second. It runs on one simple, sticky fear: what do you do when the only person telling the truth is a kid? A good fit for fans of tense family dramas knotted around a crime.
